You won’t be bored. With the variety of activities our camp offers it will be able to captivate every camper. We challenge you to challenge yourself!
On hot summer days, campers look forward to activities on the Shenandoah River. While kayaking, campers participate in water games while working on their paddle skills. We kayak on small class 1 rapids or flat water that allows campers to take in the beautiful natural environment. Campers do not have to complete a wet exit before operating their own kayak because all kayaks are “sit on top”.
Campers hike on the most difficult section A path of the Billy Goat Trail. We also hike on a segment of the C&O Canal Trail. Campers and counselors enjoy the scenic view and the great outdoors while hiking through some challenging elements including a 45 degree scramble up the rocks.
Campers are thrilled when we go mountain biking on the C&O Canal. Bikes are provided through our camp and we all ride together following bike path etiquette. The trail is primarily flat, with some optional off road portions, which makes it steady for us to take in the historic locks, landmarks and great falls overlook.
Rafting & Kayaking
Tubing is a favorite camp day for most campers and counselors. We put into a slow moving section of the Shenandoah river near Watermelon Park in Berryville, VA. Campers get to float and play with other kids while participating in water games.
Campers enjoy rock climbing at Carderock, which is a part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park. Carderock packs over 100 established climbs within approximately 200 yards of cliff. Many of the routes offer challenges for climbers of all abilities.
Adventure Park at Sandy Springs is a fun filled day packed with various activities. These activities include, 13 ropes courses, close to 200 challenge bridges, 29 zip lines and many team-building exercises. The color-coded trails at Sandy Springs offer levels ranging from beginner to advance.
Sports and Games
Campers participate in games and scrimmages in various sports at different times during the camp! We play team sports and work to improve our campers’ skills while they have fun. Most of our sports take place on McLean’s sports fields or in the gym but some of the best ones are during the overnight where campers play capture the flag and other group oriented activities. The sports/games that are played are based on majority decision of the group. Many times 2 or more games are played each camp day.
On hot summer days SplashDown Water Park really cools you off. Campers enjoy the 13-acre water park that offers 10 water slides, a lazy river, pool, sand volleyball and more. There isn’t a better way to spend a day and we look forward to making a splash!
Our overnight stay in Purcellville, VA is an incredible camp experience. This takes place on an 18th century history farm where the kids will have access to a swimming pool, views of a historic stone farmhouse(circa 1752) and multiple mountain biking trails of different levels. These trails maze though wooded areas and also provide a great platform for other games to be played in. In addition, campers will also go Tubing & Kayaking on the Shenandoah river, play various sports and games, and camp out in tents. Most meals are organic, included and provided to the campers. Nutritional discussions and deciphering food labels are part of each meal on the overnight.
